Made to Order

A made-to-order piece is the most personal thing I make. Keepsake quilts, baby quilts, custom table runners, pillow covers, mug rugs, coasters, or a coordinating set for a whole room are all possibilities. The process below is how we get from your idea to a finished piece you’ll keep for years.

Meet and Greet

The initial consult can happen over the phone, or in person at a public space if you’re local. We’ll talk through your vision, the size you have in mind, and the colors you’re drawn to, and figure out together whether the project is workable within your timeframe and budget. Lead time depends on my current workload, the season, and how readily available your chosen fabrics are.

Mix and Match

In a follow-up conversation we’ll narrow in on the pattern, fabric choices, and color combinations, and lock down the final design. This is also where we set the payment schedule and the project milestones so you always know where things stand.

The Fun Begins

Once the fabric is in hand, I cut the pieces, sew them into blocks, and arrange the blocks into the full pattern. Accent borders go on next if you’ve chosen to include them. After that comes the backing, the layered construction, and a coordinating binding to protect the edges. The final step is a prewash to preshrink the quilt and lock in the colors so your finished piece is ready to live with from day one.

Delivery

Delivery is in person if you’re local, or via USPS or FedEx if you’re not. Final payment is due at delivery, and I’ll include care instructions to help your piece stay vibrant and hold up over time.
